Hearing the name of Trattoria, make me remember a few years ago, somewhen in 2007, when I had my internship program at The Island of God, Bali. My first meeting with the Trattoria was at a small counter in Carrefour building at Sunset road, Bali. Well, as I remembered, that counter only sell few kinds of square-sliced pizzas, and I didn’t even know whether they offer any other Italian foods or not. But for sure, that time I tried some slices of their pizza which were so so.
To shorten the story, finally I knew that they also have a restaurant in Jimbaran area at that time, but I never visited their restaurant during six months of my internship program in Bali, even after I knew they open their restaurant in Jakarta (p.s I don’t even know, where were they firstly open Trattoria, is Bali or Jakarta?). Trattoria Jakarta was quite hype before, and quite famous for the food that they offer, but, I guess not for my recent visit to this restaurant.
Arrived there around 5pm on Sunday, the restaurant was looked quite, with only a few guests there. Well I believe I was too late for lunch yet too early for dinner. We ordered one Spaghetti aglio olio with prawn and ham , pizza bismark and stracetti peperoni. But as such a tradition, we were served by bruschetta and some breads as the starter snack.
The pasta was al dente, smells nice but the taste wasn’t really impressive. Lack of taste, and garlic, yet the garlic was not cooked enough so it didn’t give a great flavour to the pasta. As for the prawn, it was over cooked and not well seasoned.
Coming up as the second course was the pizza for sharing, it was a pizza with ham, asparagus, and egg on top of it. The crust was quite nice and the tomato base was just okay, overall it was just standard. And for the third course, it took quite a long time for them to bring my Stracetti to my table, I’m not sure why, it was just too long, I have to wait around 20 minutes after I finished my pasta for the steak to be ready on my table, yet it wasn’t a steak, it was a beef chunk stewed in their home made tomato sauce with bell peppers. My question is, why they called it as a steak? But forget about that, and straight to the beef. Since my first bite for the beef, well I feel something’s weird, it’s not about the sauce, the sauce was quite good, but I feel like the beef was not fresh, a bit smelly and simply made me stop eating my course.
So better I ask for my bill, and then call one of their staffs and inform about the beef, I just simply said to them “your beef is smelly, I know it’s not fresh and almost spoiled, I’m not asking for discount or free food, just inform your kitchen staffs”, then I went out from the restaurant and finding another place for dinner =p
