Japan is one of the country that adapting curry into their cuisine, with different character which sweeter and less in spiciness compare to another curry. One of the restaurant in Jakarta that specializing themselves in serving Japanese Curry is Mr. Curry, which located in Grand Indonesia Shopping Town. The combination of natural sweetness and spice is what they offer make you addicted, and juicy sunshine mangoes are one of their special ingredients.

That time I tried the very common dish which also one of their best seller, Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. For all of their curry rice menu, you have to select one from four types of their curry sauce options, which are Original Sauce, Red Sauce (using tomato), Black Sauce (using squid ink), and White Sauce (creamy), and followed with 4 level of spiciness. I took their original and 3rd level for the spiciness. Since Mr. Curry is a restaurant that already adapted western style in their concept, you also can easily find Japan-ized Western food in here, and that time, I chose Scallop and Chicken Doria as my second dish.

Voila! The chicken katsu curry rice where the rice is covered by the chicken with Mr. Curry original sauce, looks tempting with a small portion of salad. The sauce was quite thick, taste just ok, a little bit sweet, and the spiciness level is fair. The chicken katsu was also nice and crunchy. Basically I like their curry rice, but I just didn’t feel something more that achieve my expectation. Anyway It’s enjoyable

Next for the Doria, it’s a baked rice with cheese covering on top of the rice, and they’re using the curry sauce as well which made this baked rice smells really nice. Come with the scallop and chicken ham as the topping which were just ok. The taste of this Doria were still dominant with its cheese then the curry, as it should be, but I just felt that it was not cheesy enough. I think by adding an egg while baking the Doria will be very nice =)
